taiwan and San Francisco Peace Treaty (SFPT) On September 2, 1945, General Douglas MacArthur in his General Order
No. 1 directed the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek (CKS) to come to
Taiwan and accept the surrender of Japanese troops. The surrender date
of October 25, 1945, marks the beginning of the military occupation of
"Formosa and the Pescadores." But when the post-war San Francisco Peace
Treaty (SFPT) came into effect on April 28, 1952, were its provisions
carried out? What should have been the disposition of the
"representatives of CKS" at that time? Are there historical and legal
errors which need to be corrected?
