   That aside, 实践是检验真理的唯一标准 is philosophically speaking hogwash.

   这两句话的意思是一样的。
   
   老毛死了以后，老共内部的温和派闷声大发财，暗中跟胡适学了一手。他们当时不明说这是从胡适那里学来的，大概是害怕这会引起更大的阻力。

   不用客气，可以quote。其实你用“实验是真理的唯一试金石”这句话在网上google一下，就会看到很多结果。
   
   我是在好几年前在李敖的一本书中看到胡适的“实验是真理的唯一试金石”这句话的，当时立刻就想到了胡福明的“实践是检验真理的唯一标准”。因为这两句话的意思是完全一样的。胡适是搞哲学的，胡福明也是搞哲学的，这两句话的联系是一目了然的。
   
   胡福明在1978年发表“实践是检验真理的唯一标准”时不提胡适是可以理解的，这在当时是一个策略的做法。
   
   可是1978年到现在已经三十年了，好像胡福明还没有在他公开发表的文章里提到胡适的那句话和他那句话的联系，不知何故？也不知道他在私下谈话时曾否提到这两句话的联系。
   
   2005年，独善斋主在一篇文章中说到他和胡福明是多年前的熟人，我当时就想是否能通过独善斋主向胡福明问一问这个问题。

   What interests me is that in English touchstone and criterion/criteria are different.
   
   What truths have 《实践是检验真理的唯一标准》 discovered? What is the standard translation of it in English? In economy at least, 海耶克 had predicted the truths long time ago.
   
   In theological truths, it has much more problems.
